ANIMAL SCIENCE
I am fairly skilled in various aspects regarding animal industry as both an agriculture student and as a person who hails from a family deeply rooted in agriculture. Skills such as feed formulations, Taking care of lactating swine plus the piglets and milk harvesting and preservations in the dairy sector among others. Denmark will provide me an opportunity to practice upon this and also learn newer skills.
I was raised in a farm, in a quiet village in Western Kenya, Agriculture is what fed our family, took us to school, and inspired my career choice. We are five children, and my parents run a mid-sized farm with both dairy and pigs. Today, we keep 15 dairy cows, including 7 Friesians and 8 crossbreeds, along with 6 calves. We also have 20 pigs, mostly Large White crosses. The piggery was my idea, and I helped set it up from scratch. Growing up, I was involved in everything on the farm. I cleaned sheds, prepared feeds, helped treat sick animals, and advised my parents on breeding, hygiene, pricing, and markets. I saw the potential of farming, not just to survive, but to grow. My goal has always been to return with knowledge and ideas that can improve our own farm and others like it. This internship is a chance to grow, to share what I know, and to bring back ideas that can make a real difference.
